the warm, wonderful smelling kitchen

. Sunday, November 5, 2023 .

If I close my eyes and pretend I am sitting on the back deck at our house in WI I can smell the Nestle's factory in Burlington.  If the wind is just right you can smell chocolate goodness.  It sure is better than the other smell we smelled most of the time...cow manure.

I am so lucky that the Wammyville parents load up chocolate candy after Trick-or-Treat.  This year I think I have enough for two pies.

Candy Bar Pie is so easy to make especially if you use store-bought crust.

Candy Bar Pie Recipe

Bake a pie crust for 10 minutes in a 350-degree oven.
Fill the baked pie crust with all the chocolate candy you love.  I usually cut the larger bars into several smaller pieces.  Put the filled shell back in the oven for 30-40 minutes.

You are welcome!

Oh My Chocolate Goodness

All ingredients are ready thanks to the Wammyville yahoos that shared their chocolate candy.

That's a bunch of wrappers.

And here are all of my happy helpers.

Trying out a new way to make pie crust thanks to Brenda Gantt.  It is mixed up right in the pie pan!  Check it out on YouTube.

Ready to prebake which I don't think I needed to do.

Candy Bar Pie is ready to go into the oven.

The house smells like a chocolate factory.

Once the little ones were down for a nap Jase and I made a few individual pies.

We were able to get in a few games of UNO while we were waiting to take them out of the oven.

Help With Candy Bar Pie

Wammy's Kitchen

This is how it all started.  I love this tradition at our house.  This year I even have orders to fill.  Bring me a big bag of chocolate candy from your Halloween stash and I will whip up a Candy Bar Pie for you.  Or if you want to make your own, here is the original blog with the recipe.

Candy Bar Pie

You want to use the chewiest and softest candy in your stash.

It helps if you have helpers.  We are secretly working on those cutting skills and it isn't even a preschool day.  They open them and then I cut them into small pieces.

Connor said he needed to get a better look.

Not really sure of the measurement but I actually cut up about a half of a gallon size ziplock bag.

I pour maybe 3/4 of the bag into the pie shell after it has baked for 10 minutes by itself.

Here they are ready to go in.  One for the Bruce's and one that the Zimmerman's shared with the Rockhold's.

And here they are baked and cooling and making the house smell wonderful.  It smells like a chocolate factory.  My mouth waters.

I'm thinking about trying to make some candy bar tarts in my spare time.  I don't know when that will be because I have to fill some orders.

Oh, how I love Halloween candy!

This Is How It All Started

Eagle Ridge Road

Thanks to Adi and Jase sharing their candy and Ali dropping off an unopened bag of candy we made one of the best Candy Bar Pies on record today while the boys were napping.

It was a team effort.  We had candy openers, candy cutters, edge crimpers, pie watchers, and of course pie eaters.

My first time trying to make a pie look pretty.

The kitchen smelled like a chocolate factory.

The finished product cooling on the stove.

Everyone got to take home a small piece.  Not because I am stingy...a piece of candy bar pie goes a LONGGGGGG way.

Good job girls!

New Generation Of Candy Bar Pie Markers

Sorry to see October go but I know what the first of November means around here...

Trick or Treat candy leftovers and some birthday chocolates added in for good measure.

At least two candy bar pies so far!

Candy Bar Pie

And I am so excited in so many ways.  I love Halloween!  Seeing the yahoos in their costumes.  And of course all the chocolate!  But first I had to make a pot of coffee for our special new mugs.

In the oven.

Out of the oven.  I made this one for Michael because the other day he asked if it was about time to make one.  I had to wait all day for him to come home from school to get a bite of it.  Mark would not let me even get close to it!

I did make a second one.  But that is more for us either.  Maybe tomorrow night after Halloween I will be able to make another one with the candy that we have left.
