I love camping and Dutch oven cooking just about as much as I love hiking on the Appalachian Trail. So Mark hooked me up for my birthday this year. Everyday something new shows up on the front porch. You jsut gotta love Amazon Prime!
I got two new Dutches a 10 inch and a 12 inch. The next time the doorbell rang it was a new really nice lid lifter.
Then came the Dutch oven table with the taller wind screen awith a carrying case..
So of course I baked something today.
Spice cake and peaches...AKA Peach Cobbler Yummmmm!
Tomorrow I think I am going to try to bake some Beer Bread. My friend Jen is going to share her recipe.
I got this recipe from one of the Assistant Scoutmasters on one of the first campouts we every did with the Troop...Mammoth Caves.
Boy Scout Cobbler
1 apple spice cake mix
2 small or one large can of pie fruit (I jsut used two cans of peaches becasue that was in the pantry)
1/2 a can of Sprite
Line the Dutch oven with foil. Spray the bottom on the oven (foil) with Pam. Throw everything in the dutch and mix lightly.
8 coals on bottom
12 coals on top
Turn dutchover every 15 minutes. Turn the lid to the right and the bottom to the left. Cook for 60 minutes and then, only then lift the lid and check for doneness,
