Jake's Diner

. Sunday, July 24, 2011 .
We have ventured on to a new state...on our way to the beach for vacation and we stopped in Greensboro, NC. There was a caravan of three cars and ten total of people ten people traveling together.  We eat together, take potty breaks together, get gas together...so we are quite a site entering anywhere.  And we aren't the most quiet bunch on the planet.

We were greeted with smiles and happy people. (And they all seemed happy after we finished our meal)

Early risers we had to be because the beach awaited us. Jake's Diner was right out our motel room. Plus friends of ours gave us a heads up. And the parking lot was full. So off we went. The coffee was just perfect and my cup was never more than half empty.

Getting a table for ten was no problem at all.  They just started bring tables and chairs from everywhere.  It was nice to be able to sit all together so we could all be on the same page when we were deciding how the day was going to go...who was riding in what car and who was driving the first leg for the day.

Evidently the dinner we had the night before didn't fill my Dad up.  He ordered the Fat Cat Special...3 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, 2 sausage patties, 1 waffle topped with strawberries and hash browns.  OMG!  And he ate every crumb!

And any true southener eats grits with some butter and a little bit of sugar!

A breakfast burrito made with egg whites.

Alaire tackled a waffle that was as big as she is.  Hey, Alaire...would you like to have a little waffle with all that butter?

When we go on vacation, especially to the beach I have to have my fix of a few things....peaches from a roadside stand that when you bite into them the juice runs all the way down your arm, boiled peanuts and a big ole piece of country ham.  It was delicious and I am slobbering all of the keys just thinking about it.

I know that we will for sure be stopping at Jake's Diner on the return trip next year...even if it is lunch because I am sure whatever is on the menu will be delicious!
