Big Poppa Slims

Got up bright and early this morning and made the trip to Old Milford/ Rt 50 to get some breakfast before heading to some plant sales. Place opens at 7:30AM...sharp. Next week I plan on being there at 7:15AM waiting for the doors to open so I can get some French Toast Casserole. We got there a little after 8AM and it was all gone! I was bummed!

When we were  greeted and seated at around 8AM and there was only one other customer.  Nice and clean and you are treated as if you were an old family friend.  It was like stepping back in time.  Old record album covers nicely framed and on the walls.  We could go around the room and pick out our favorites...walk down memory lane for sure.  I think we might still have a box full from the first move we ever made.

I was so looking forward to either some blueberry pancakes or french toast.  None of either available today...I could have had blueberry waffles but I chose a Belgian waffle with maple syrup.  Nice and light.  The sweetness was perfect.

Emmy tried the Menudo...4 eggs 'Scrabble'...because no one ever taught Jeff how to make an omelet...with chorizo, black beans, tomato, red onions and Colby cheese.  We decided a two thumbs up on this one.

Mark's choice...scrambled eggs and potatoes topped with Goetta...if you aren't from the Cincinnati area you might be scratching your head..goetta?...

Goetta is a breakfast sausage of German origin that is popular in the greater Cincinnati area.. It is primarily composed of ground meat and oats. Pronounced gétt-aa, ged-da or get-uh of  the Americanized pronunciation this dish originated with German settlers from the northwestern regions of Oldenburg, Hannover, and Westphilia who emigrated to the Cincinnati area in the 19th century. The word "Goetta" comes from the Low German word götte.
Goetta was originally a peasant dish, meant to stretch out servings of meat over several meals to conserve money.
The modern popularity of goetta in Cincinnati has led to it being called "Cincinnati Caviar". Glier's Goetta, the largest commercial producer of goetta, produces more than 1,000,000 pound (450 metric tons) annually, around 99% of which is consumed locally in greater Cincinnati.

Michael tried to down a three egg and cheese stuffed flour tortilla.  Usually it comes with lettuce, tomato and mayo.  But Michael being Michael, he just chose the eggs and sausage.  We have leftovers for later today's snack.

Nice, clean, happy atmosphere.

Some of the lunch items are the Kelly Clarkson.  Or what about a Rosemary Clooney.  Or a Hall & Oates.  And my favorite, the Billy Ray Cyrus! You can click on Urbanspoon to checkout the menu and comments from others.  Fun place.  You really get your money's worth here!

WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!
