Crockpot Swiss Steak

Crockpot Swiss Steak

2-2 1/2 pounds chuck steak/bottom round about 1" thick
salt and pepper
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1 onion. thinly sliced
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes
8 oz can of tomato sauce
14 0z of beef broth
1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

Place onions and bell peppers in the bottom of the crockpot.  Trim excess fat and cut into serving-size pieces.  Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper.  Dredge meat in flour and place in the slow cooker on top of onions and peppers.

In a bowl with remaining flour add diced tomatoes with liquid.  Whisk until mixed.  Add remaining ingredients to the bowl and whisk again.  Pour over the meat and make sure meat is submerged.

Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours.  When the dish has completely cooked, carefully remove the meat.  Whisk gravy that is left in the crockpot.    Use gravy over meat and mashed potatoes.
