I know...sounds crazy.  And you would never even think I would makes something with beer in it.  But Betsy had some at her house the other day and it is delicious!!!!

My only problem with the recipe was...where to get the can of beer?  I talked Betsy into talking Dewey into giving me a can.  Then I talked to Ms Renee and she said when I needed one I needed another that I could raid their fridge.  I have the best neighbors.

Betsy's So Simple Beer Bread
3 1/2 cups of flour
3 TBS sugar
1 TBS baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
12 oz can of beer
1 beaten egg

Lower middle rack of the over and preheat to 375 degrees.  Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.  Add beer and stir with a fork.  When mixed well dump out onto a flowered surface.  Knead until the dough forms a tight ball.  Place on baking sheet and cut an X into the top.  The deeper you make the cup the more of a flouring effect you will get.  Brush with egg wash.  Bake 45 minutes.  Cool on a wire rack.

Think I might have to go raid the neighbors fridge.  Today is a rainy soup kind of day and some good warm bread would be delicious.

After and hour or so in the car, after our DOJO dessert at Findlay Market, we headed for somewhere in search of a late lunch...or linner as Michael calls it.  We ended up at Habit's Cafe in Oakley.
Habit's Cafe
3036 Madison Road
Oakley

I love the ceiling tiles..I wonder if they are original?  And the chandelier really shows it off.

Michael ordered fish and chips.  I never realized that he likes fish as much as he does.  And let me just tell you that the tartar sauce is really, really good!

Emmy and Cassie split a few entries...this one is chicken fingers...smothered with hot sauce.

When we go back, and we will!  We want Mark to try the Reuben.  It was a hit with both Cassie and Emmy.

The kids chicken fingers looks pretty good too!

Ellis and I both got hamburgers.  I even got some white bean chicken chili...but I forgot to get a pic of that.
