Schmidt's is located in German Village. It is housed in an old livery stable. There is a lot to take in!  I knew we would be eating in German Village...Mark loves the food there.  The wait was about 30 minutes and that did not deter anyone.  The servers are in authentic Bavarian attire...men in their traditional Lederhos'n with suspenders and the women in the traditional Dirndl(dress) with a pinafore.

The bartender wears one of those hats like the boys in Heidi wear.  You can see him way back there in the middle of the picture behind the bar.

The waiting are was packed when we got there and it was still wall to wall people when we left.

We decided to try everything they had on the buffet....let's see if I can remember it all...rice, Bahama Mama and Mild BM sausages, German potato salad, sour kraut, red cabbage with beets and apples, mac and cheese, smashed red potatoes, bean and ham soup, kraut  salad, and some other sausage in some kind of sauce.  I also had a boring old American toss salad.

Round two included some fried chicken.

Believe it or not I still had room for some chocolate pie.

Mark chose the vanilla cream puff.

We rolled ourselves out of there just down the street to the Fudge House...Oh yea!

Sugar, sugar...I mean chocolate, chocolate everywhere...what on earth do I choose?

Heck with the fudge...look at all the chocolate!

I couldn't leave without a sea salt dark chocolate caramel.  One for the road right?

We aren't sure what this House is but you can almost guess what Mark said it was.  I will not repeat it here...you can just use your imagination.
I looked it up...the building was part of an old livery stable.  It has been the home for artisans and antiques and gifts.  Not sure what it is used for now.

On the way back from spending the night at the Museum Center at Union Terminal with the scouts, Erik, Wyatt, Michael and I decided to stop at Flipdaddy's for some lunch.  This was our second time there.  I remember the sweet potatoes being really good.

Those sweet potato fries did not disappoint.  And the dipping sauce was to die for...really sweet with lots of cinnamon.   Just a regular burger but it was delicious!

Michael chose one of his favorite dishes...chicken strips.  The serving size was just the right amount for a growing 10 year old.

Wyatt chose the grilled cheese.  He gave it two thumbs up!

Eric chose the best dish of the day...a burger with cheese and caramelized onions.  Wyatt had a little taste and said it was awesome.  So awesome that he might order it the next time.

The kids meals come with ice cream.  Wish I had ordered off the kid menu.

It really was a fun trip...a nice way to end a fun time with our scouts...the place was clean, warm and friendly on a cold and rainy day.  Thanks Eric and Wyatt for lunch, our treat next time!
